Students strike gold at the palace
On a sunny day in London, 17 current and former students from Beauchamp College and Beauchamp City Sixth Form attended the Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award Ceremony in the gardens of Buckingham Palace, joined by proud families, friends and teachers.
The event celebrated years of commitment and hard work. After completing Bronze and Silver, these students achieved the highest level of the DofE programme, joining hundreds of young people nationwide in receiving this prestigious honour.
Guests enjoyed inspiring talks from Calum Scott and JB Gill, alongside interactive activities in the Palace gardens.
To earn their Gold Awards, students completed four elements: volunteering, learning a new skill, taking part in physical activity and completing a challenging expedition. From supporting local charities to navigating remote landscapes, they embraced every challenge with enthusiasm. Along the way, they gained valuable life skills such as cooking and budgeting – one even mastered chess!
This achievement reflects their dedication and perseverance, supported by school staff and Lionheart’s DofE programme leader, Ian Coward.
