Sixth form success

There was plenty to celebrate on A-level Results Day, as our Year 13 students collected another remarkable set of A-level and Level 3 qualifications.

This year's results saw 33.2% of all A-Level grades awarded at A or A*, significantly above the East Midlands average of 23.1%. The college also maintained an impressive average grade of B-, while more than 30% of students achieved AAB or betterNearly one in five students (19.3%) secured at least three A or A grades*, and 10 students achieved the remarkable feat of gaining an A and three A grades*.

Several subjects delivered exceptional performances, including Further Mathematics and Fine Art, both achieving an average grade of A-.

Among the cohort, there were also a number of inspiring individual stories, with many students securing places at prestigious universities and embarking on rewarding apprenticeship schemes.

Delicia secured 3 A*s in Biology, Chemistry and Maths and is off to the capital to student Medicine at King’s College London, while Lola – after achieving an A and two Bs – will take up a place to study Business at the University of Leicester.

Meanwhile, Josh will embark an exciting degree apprenticeship in Engineering at the UK Atomic Energy Authority and Krisha achieved the required grades to study Law at the University of Keel.

Head of Sixth Form, John Oswin, said:

We are immensely proud of the hard work of our students and staff, and it is wonderful to see so many young people planning for their exciting next steps.

We can't wait to hear from this cohort about the amazing things that they go on to achieve and we wish them all the best.

Alice King, Associate Principal, added:

There are some fantastic individual success stories behind today's results, alongside excellent achievements across a wide range of subjects.

We are incredibly proud not only of what our students have achieved academically, but also of the confident, compassionate and capable young adults they have become.

Congratulations once again to our departing Year 13s – many of whom have been with us since Year 7 – we are incredibly proud of you and look forward to seeing you thrive as you take your exciting next steps.
